Applied Math in Ms. Harris' Class
Ms. Harris' math students extended their knowledge by applying mathematics to real-world situations. They moved from worksheets to presentations and commercials! Each group was challenged to extract the necessary math from the given scenario and create a presentation explaining how math applies to the community that will be built.
Ms. Harris' students worked in groups to complete the math and blueprint needed to successfully create a 3D model of a community. Many groups used different methods to introduce their unique community ranging from commercials to skits.
Required Math Pre-requisites for this activity included Volume, Lateral and Total Surface Area, Analyzing and Interpreting Scatterplots, Mean Absolute Deviation, and Solving Equations.
